Before the Revolutionary War even commenced, the term
Ranger has referred to the nation's most elite and disciplined soldiers.
The modern day Ranger units came into existence on 27 May 1942 when the 1/75 Ranger Battalion was formed, becoming the first U.S. Special Operations unit. Trained by the famed British Commandos in scenarios so harsh that men died during training, the Rangers were tasked with the most impossible of missions, including the Normandy invasion.
Since then, Rangers have been at the tip of the spear in every major conflict - notably in Korea, Vietnam, Panama, and Somalia. They are now one of the most important elements in the war on terror operating in sector at an ops tempo that makes us tired just to think about it.
If Rangers come knocking on your door and you are a terrorist asshole, you are about to have a real bad day.
Rangers live by the
Ranger Creed and the Ranger Motto - Sua Sponte - of their own accord.
