There are numerous awards, badges, and tabs that a soldier can be awarded. They all have meaning. They all come from blood, sweat, and tears. They are to be commended.

There is only one badge, however, that from generation to generation, unit to unit, and man to man and means the same thing unequivocally:

I met the enemy as an infantryman in combat.
