Combatives Spartan MMA Club Shirt
Recently chronicled in the phenomenal adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel in the movie 300, the Spartans have long been the standard by which all warriors compare themselves.
The education of Spartan youth began almost at birth, with boys pulled from their homes at the age of 7 and forced into a life of thievery and hardship. Many died. A Spartan warrior that lived through the hard training, unyielding discipline, and at times even pure brutality, would become a Hoplite (essentially the equivalent of a knight) at age 20.
Spartans were famous for having a fierce stoicism in the name of adversity, and for living with only the barest of essentials (hence, the term "Spartan lifestyle"). Their training was the building block for many modern elite units.
Spartans are most famous for the battle of Thermopylae, where the 300 heavily outnumbered Spartans gave their lives to hold Xerxes'S vast Persian army at bay long enough to get the Athenian Navy in place to defend Greece's coast. The resulting Battle of Salamis left the Persian navy in tatters, and their campaign doomed.
Embarrassed and outmatched without his naval support, Xerxes fled, leaving his field general Mardonius to meet the full Spartan Army at the Battle of Platea, where the remaining Persian Army was destroyed.
Had Sparta failed to stave off the Persian onslaught, many believe that Western Civilization would have been lost.
"Club Shirts" are made with a softer, thinner, and more expensive fabric than our basic tees. They are also more form-fitting, so please take that into account!
