The Ranger Up Designer Competition
Please note: This is not an idea competition! We're looking for some design talent!
Things are growing like gang-busters around here and we've decided to give our fans the opportunity to try their hand at one of the next Ranger Up Combatives Shirts. As our first Designer Competition,it makes sense to us to give you guys the shirt topic we're looking for, along with some loose guidelines, and let you take it from there. We're looking for someone who can take a general theme for an MMA shirt and run with it. Here's what we've got planned:
Shirt Theme: Roman Chariot MMA Shirt
Nick’s Imagery Vision for this shirt (Note: Do whatever you want – Nick is usually wrong, but we wanted to provide some insight on the type of thing we’re looking for):
Chariot. Horses Charging. Weapon swinging. The weapon is over the rider’s shoulder about to strike his enemy and extends into the high shoulder portion of the shirt. The rage on the guy's face is evident as he is about to deliver the death stroke. The details on the horse(s) are very clear. You can see a lot of details everywhere – veins, stubble, etc.
Garrett’s Design Comments: We’re pushing all-in for MMA shirts. We are looking for something thematically like what we have done in the past, but visually more aggressive. Bolder, more detail, and more hand drawn art. This is definitely an “all-over” print shirt meaning the entire shirt, front and back is your canvas.
We're looking for a shirt that captures the spirit and style of MMA. We consider our Gladiator to be the first shirt of this category for us and the winning design will fit in with the Gladiator in the RU family.
Required Text for Back of the Shirt:
"Deos fortioribus adesse." (The gods are on the side of the stronger.)
You may use the Latin, the English, or both, but it has to look cool and blend well into the design, in contrast to our shirts from the past.
Other Required Element: The words “Ranger Up” need to be clear on the garment.
A Hint on How to Nail the Shirt: You really need to understand what Ranger Up is about, a decent bit about the MMA industry, and be a skilled graphic designer, with significant experience in hand-illustration and design software.
NOTE: Shirt does NOT have to be black, but our most successful shirts come in dark hues.
Deadlines:
All submissions for the competition must be in by Friday, February 20th. We'll take about 2-3 weeks to review designs and contact winners. Winning designs will be announced in March in our weekly email.
Here's what's in it for the winners:
1st Place: $250 cash and $250 in RU Gear
2nd Place: $125 cash and $125 in RU Gear
3rd Place: $125 in RU Gear
Furthermore, if you really nail this, you might have a real opportunity for some steady work with Ranger Up. We’re growing and we’re going to need some more design help soon!
How to Submit Your Design:
All designs must be submitted in one of two formats: .psd (Photoshop) or .ai (Illustrator). Versions 9+ are fine. Download the .zip file with the file templates you need.
