Our country was founded in Revolution: the militia – the average citizen – taking up arms against an oppressive government. To this day, even in our standing army, we consider ourselves citizen soldiers.

This is an important distinction, and one that is distinct to the United States. We are a country of arms. We are a country that values the right to bear arms.

Our founding fathers were not foolish men. They looked to history and they saw that in virtually every single case, when the people were disarmed, dictators rose, calamity ensued, and people were murdered and enslaved. That is why the second amendment provides every citizen the right to bear arms. George Washington referred to this right as our nation’s “liberty teeth”.

If the government begins to oppress, if tyrants rise up, if scoundrels threaten our existence, we Americans can fight back. We are an armed citizenry. We give the government power, not the other way around.

Ranger Up developed this shirt – an American Flag made completely out of the current weapons of choice of the United States Military – to honor that legacy. Without arms, without those who fight, and without the citizenry’s ability to defend itself, there is no liberty. Many hold our freedom of speech in the highest possible regard, and we agree, it is an amazing right and we are blessed to have it. Those of us that know the reality of the world, however, understand that without the right to bear arms, no other rights exist.

Many in this country disagree with this stance. They fear weapons because all they see in them is the worst the world has to offer. They see the thieves, murderers, rapists.

And we, more than anyone perhaps, know those people exist. We just happen to know that someone’s got to be there to shoot them.
