Iwo Jima T-Shirt

21,000 Japanese warriors were dug into 18 miles of trenches, 3 miles of tunnels, and 800 pillboxes on an island that only registered 8 miles. Their orders, which all but 1,083 of them carried out, was to fight to the death.
Their battleground was eight brutal miles of sharp volcanic rock that was hard to climb and had minimal cover for the invading Marine force, especially with 100+ pound packs.
Yet the Marines moved forward, suffering 23k casualties in a battle that permanently gave the Marine Corps a place of honor in the annals of warfare. Clawing their way to victory, sometimes at a rate of only five hundred feet per day, the Corps refused to accept defeat. Their country gave them a mission that sane people would believe impossible, but grunts don't believe in impossible.
The Marine Corps has earned their reputation over and over again since this day and certainly before it, but the raising of the flag on Mount Suribachi is the ultimate symbol of their eternal toughness. We believe President Ronald Reagan personified the spirit of the Corps when he recognized them with his famous quote, "Some people spend their entire lives wondering if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem."
We agree.
Hopefully, we've done a good job honoring Marines and their supporters with this shirt.
