The Declaration of Independence is in many ways the most important document in American history. It famously states the premise Americans have embraced and American troops have vowed to fight, bleed, and if necessary die for: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
