Imagine an organization so badass that it spawned the Special Forces, Navy SEALS, and Marine Force Recon.
No need to imagine.
The Military Assistance Command, Vietnam Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) was a highly classified, multi-service United States Special Operations Forces unit which conducted covert unconventional warfare operations prior to and during the Second Indochina War, AKA the Vietnam War.
These guys were the BAMFs that volunteered before Hollywood made special operations cool and before they had their own unit specific Xbox game. Their toys weren’t much sexier than those of the conventional army, but yet they asked to take on the most dangerous missions possible over and over again. They were involved in nearly every mission of note throughout the Vietnam War. They even taught Yoda how to use the Force.
Out of their service and sacrifice came a new elevated standard that became the definition of an elite soldier, setting the stage for a more formal acceptance of Special Operations and the amazing military that we have today. These guys were just raw unbridled awesomeness and we’re proud to finally do a shirt in their honor.
